CELEBRATING 20TH CENTURY MUSICAL PIONEERS
THE SISTERS WHO FORGED THE WAY
and grab yourself some musical action
St Leonards-on-Sea East Sussex, November 13th 2021
Participate in a day long course for twelve aspiring singers with world- class tuition provided by two of the UK’s world class musical talents. Learn backing vocals for four songs, with opportunities for learning duet parts as well. The course involves 6 hours of intense learning and one-and- a-half hours of performance when Sarah Jane and Tony combine with singer-songwriter Mike Willis to make music, with participants providing the backing vocals and duet-parts for the songs they learn. The tantalising prospect ahead for those who accept the challenge and achieve concert standard is to join Sarah Jane’s band on stage at Ronnie Scott’s Club in Soho early in the New Year to sing at one of the world’s most famous venues.
(Tickets for Sarah Jane’s 3rd & 4th January 2022 concert can be obtained at 20% discount rate from www.ronniescotts.co.uk with six students providing the backing vocals each night.)
The course will take place in a stylishly converted former bank in St Leonards, a town which is acquiring a reputation as one of the most intensively colonised creative communities anywhere in Europe, where musicians, film-makers, painters, designers and multi-media artists enjoy the seaside town, its cafés, restaurants, galleries and performance spaces.
Vegetarian food and refreshment will be provided (morning & afternoon coffee/tea, lunch and supper with wine). Airbnbs will be provided for non-residents, either as two-night stays or as one-nighters. The price (exclusive of accommodation and Ronnie Scott’s tickets) is £225 per participant, plus £100 extra for a solo verse in one song. Airbnb is offered at £50 per night.
November’s Singing School is the first of a series of crowd- funders to launch SISTERHOOD, Sarah Jane’s newest project, in which she writes and sings songs to celebrate the lives and musical achievements of ten of her ‘sisters in song’, great singers who changed the history of popular music.
