The creative output of this versatile musician, composer and cellist, ranges from composition to concert performance in a variety of genres, from ancient music to jazz, contemporary music and particular forms of improvisation.

After graduating with top grades in cello, Melozzi turned to composition, first in Germany where he became assistant to the well-known composer and virtuoso clarinettist Michael Riessler, and then in Rome, where he now lives, studying composition under Luis Bacalov at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and working on soundtracks both for film and television. Melozzi has received a number of commissions both from television networks and theatres and he has also collaborated on a number of projects with leading exponents of new Italian jazz both as instrumentalist and arranger and composer. His talent was soon spotted by a number of internationally renowned musicians, leading him to write scores for Paolo Fresu, Sabine Mayer, Sarah Jane Morris. Maxence Larrieau, Pierre Charial and Terry Bozzio.

He is performing around Europe at the moment as part of the experimental group playing for the Asta Nielsen’s Hamlet live soundtrack sessions, performed on the 57th Berlin FilmFestival retrospective in theatre Volksbuhne.
